Afternoon Talk

Karena lagi random sekaligus bete, gue mau ngasih informasi tentang band indie-pop asal Lampung yang keren banget! oke, cekidot.. here they are:




AFTERNOON TALK

Menyanyikan perasaan sedih dengan riang dan tanpa beban mungkin bukan opsi yang kebanyakan orang pilih untuk menumpahkan atau melepasakan suasana hati yang tidak baik. Kesedihan atau mungkin biasa disebut dengan ‘galau’ merupakan suatu perasaan yang lebih dekat dengan suasana muram, serasa beban dipundak yang sudah diemban menjadi semakin berat dan tinggal menunggu waktu untuk dihempaskan atau dilepaskan. Kebanyakan orang lebih merasa nyaman untuk ‘mendekatkan’ diri  dengan musik bernuansa muram seperti post-rock atau triphop karena merasa jenis musik tersebut lebih memiliki keterikatan dengan perasaan tersebut, terutama dari segi nuansa. Namun sepertinya hal tersebut tidak berlaku bagi trio folk-pop asal Lampung yang menamakan dirinya Afternoon Talk.
Perasaan sedih yang dinyanyikan memang tersirat secara harfiah dari tiap bait lirik yang dinyanyikan oleh Sofia Sekar Arum, namun yang membedakan adalah notasi dan aransemen musik yang sengaja diracik agar tidak terdengar depresi atau sedih. Tidak percaya? Silakan dengar track pembuka berjudul “Love Letter” yang menceritakan tentang surat cinta salah alamat. Pada part terakhir Sofia terdengar seperti berpura-pura menangis dan menafikan perasaan dia  yang sebenarnya jengah untuk terus sendiri, tepatnya pada bait “But oh my God, I Know that it was not for me, I’m just sick of being single you know..”.  Lagu galau yang sangat manis dan menyenangkan untuk didengar. Saya mendapati seorang anak kecil yang kebetulan lewat didepan rumah menari-nari girang ketika saya memutar lagu ini. Sofia hanya terdengar muram pada track “Please Tell Me How To Turn Back The Time” itupun dengan kadar yang pas dan tidak berlebihan dengan lirik yang  terbilang naif dan lugu. Sekilas intro pada “The Ship Will Bring You Home” mengingatkan saya dengan lagu “Yellow Submarine” milik The Beatles, sebuah track terakhir yang menutup sajian manis milik Afternoon Talk yang berproporsi pas.
Cara bernyanyi Sofia yang seperti bertutur atau bercerita ditingkahi oleh pola aransemen catchy dan riang merupakan formula dari musik Afternon Talk. Kita tidak perlu memutar hingga dua kali sampai mengerenyitkan dahi untuk bisa memahami dan menikmati musik yang mereka suguhkan, cukup dengan duduk sembari menikmati teh atau kopi dan camilan kesukaan. Sebuah EP yang juga membuktikan musik bagus nan catchy tidak melulu harus berasal dari Pulau Jawa. Afternoon Talk seakan mengajarkan kepada kita bahwa kesedihan tidak selamanya harus disikapi secara muram dan berlebihan. Biarkan perasaan tersebut berlalu dan tumpahkan dengan riang.



Afternoon talk offers the public an acoustic sound with wide dimensions where the corridors are “elastic” with different variations of augmentations of simple music without leaving the concept of simplicity in their music. Afternoon Talk try to plunge and incorporate their own way of playing. With a variety of influences, Afternoon Talk always try to mingle with the progression of music and the main idea of their work. The song “There’s one thing you should know” tells the feeling of longing and be together with the one we love. Afternoon Talk incorporate and inspired by tropical sound of traditional Indonesian culture. Local culture is regarded as treasure; it is an essential thing that cannot be separated from their identity. Afternoon Talk are:
